Visual Concept
Titaninnen tells the story of sisters Lu and Ika, whose deep loyalty is challenged when one of them must find her place at the Prussian court between 1780 and 1810. Their bond, and the price of freedom within a rigid society, stands at the center of the narrative.
The visual world combines historical authenticity with a sense of mysticism. The playful Rococo of the Frederickian court contrasts with the austere classicism of an abandoned water castle, where scenic wallpapers expand space into a dreamlike, ritualistic realm.
Inspired in spirit by Caspar David Friedrich, the imagery emphasizes nature, transience, and new beginnings. Light, texture, and shadow shape the spaces, creating an atmosphere that is lyrical, immersive, and quietly dramatic.
Set Decoration
— Props Concept
The set design of Titaninnen aims not just for historical accuracy but for an emotionally immersive world. Filming in museums required careful protection of exhibits and close collaboration with conservators. Authentic furniture and objects were sourced through collectors and specialist prop houses, including a notable partnership with KPM Berlin for historic porcelain and reproductions. This fusion of scholarship and cinematic vision creates a richly atmospheric, historically resonant setting that brings the era vividly to life.
