Visual Concept

The visual concept for the commercial Piccolinis was developed under dynamic and highly collaborative production conditions. Working closely with director Simon Hebler—known for his energetic pacing and vivid, fast-cut storytelling—the design needed to hold up from every angle, supporting movement, spontaneity, and visual density within each frame.

A key element of the process was the collaboration with Regina Knobloch, one of the most established figures in German production design. I had the opportunity to draw extensively from her prop archive, while she also supported the project generously. This not only elevated the level of detail across all sets, but also grounded the overall aesthetic in a rich, lived-in authenticity.

The set design centers on a modern, internationally relatable visual language for cozy, social moments. Three fully realized 360-degree environments were built on location: a chaotic kids’ birthday party, a lively evening with friends, and a first date that spirals into cooking disaster before Buitoni Piccolinis save the night. Each set is crafted with a high level of detail and authenticity, designed to feel lived-in, slightly messy, and full of character. Layered props, warm materials, and a vibrant, imperfect atmosphere create spaces that are both visually rich and emotionally inviting—supporting dynamic camera movement while maintaining a natural, believable look and feel.

Beyond the set environments, the scope of work also included packaging design, practical SFX (such as breakaway glass, wine bottle effects, and smoke), food styling, and the creation of bespoke artworks for the interiors—ensuring a cohesive visual identity across all elements in frame.
